ABSTRACT:

The aim of this research is to analyze how the gender identity is constituted in the discourse present in the Thousand Women Program (PMM). The Program is the result of a discursive formation that has spread around the world to create affirmative actions to include those who have been socially excluded for some time, in this specific case: women. Thus, the delineated research is directly linked to female gender and professional education. To achieve the proposed goal, this study establishes as a theoretical, methodological and analytical horizon, Discourse Analysis based, above all, on Michel Foucault's precepts. The analysis is organized under the methodological perspective of the thematic path, in accordance with Guilhaumou and Maldidier (1994), and comprises the following themes: a) the construction of truths around the constitution of female gender identity in the PMM; b) institutional power relations that affects the constitution of female gender identity in the PMM; c) the constitution of female gender identity by itself. The analysis of these themes takes as corpus official PMM documents and the eponymous electronic portal. The survey results reveal the historical oppression of women and the brazilian traditional professional education in offering courses aimed at those who are already marginalized persist in the constitution of female gender identity in PMM. These results point to the fact that discrimination and prejudice towards the female gender subjectivize the women who make up the PMM to the point that they incorporate this discourse and need to fight the stigma they direct themselves.
