The following documentary corpus is the object of analysis: the legislation, which comprises the policies of higher education in Brazil; UFG's specific legal orders, resolutions and regulations; Statistical data from the system used by UFG - SIGAA on the academic performance of UFGInclude students. Data were collected from 15 of 16 students, considering that there was a dropout of a black quilombola student. For data collection, a semi-structured questionnaire was applied and semi-structured interviews, document analysis and direct observations were performed. The results of the study reveal that the academic performance of quota students follows the performance of the class. Students reported that, if there were no permanence policies of UFG Jataí Regional, they would have already dropped out the course, because they wouldn't be able to stay at the University and away from the family without financial and Pedagogical support.
