ABSTRACT:

We understand the world is undergoing a process of transformation due to globalization, but mainly the advent of TIC, thus, we will analyze society from these transformations. From this, it was possible to build the questions that guide this research: How does the implementation of the distance learning modality in the UFG/REJ. What are the legal requirements to support this implementation? What are the possibilities and limits for this implementation? Our methodological option was the qualitative research, with documentary analysis, being also characterized as a case study, which allowed a deepening and unveiling of the details of the phenomenon to be investigated, from a holistic and systemic view, considering its particularities. The goal of this research is to verify what are the limits and possibilities of the implementation of the Distance Education (EAD) modality at UFG/REJ. Therefore, we outline the following as the path of this research: 1. Describe the distance learning modality, regarding public policies, its legal impositions and its contextualization in Brazil; 2.Check the contributions of the use of TIC in Education; 3. Analyze official documents of UFG regarding the distance learning modality. Given these analyzes, we could conclude that the EAD modality has been included in the UFG legal documents, as is the case of the PDI, showing a concern for the issues involving it, establishing actions for its implementation, as is the case of Goal 18 of the referred document which establishes that a distance education policy be discussed and implemented at UFG. However, when analyzing data from the Institutional Self-Assessment Report (2013/2014) and CIAR, we found that the modality has not been developed at UFG/REJ. Therefore, it was possible to infer that there are possibilities for the EAD modality to be implemented, but there are structural limits that have hindered such implementation.
